What’s in a Prompt?

Sometimes it’s hard to think of a subject to blog about. I follow a few fandoms, but I don’t exactly keep up with their latest books and news. Trying to provide an up-to-date commentary when you don’t follow all the ins and outs of something is difficult!

…Then there is the regular news. I don’t think anyone reading this wants to click on my blog to see a political rant, so that’s automatically out. There is a time and place for politics, and long ago, I decided that this blog was not it.

I’ve seen a lot of witty DIY (Do It Yourself) blogs. DIY bloggers excel at cutesy metaphors to keep their readers entertained by their instructions. Anything DIY makes for a good prompt! Too bad I haven’t done anything lately that isn’t self-explanatory!

With all that being said, this blog isn’t going anywhere! I felt like rambling about the whims of trying to figure out what to blog about. Now…let’s top this post off with something different.

I’m going to find a random object and tell its story in one paragraph. I just need to get out of this chair and find something…

A jar of ash

This has been in my family for years. I have no idea how it found its way into my hands, but here it is. The ash is from Mount St. Helens (click here for Wikipedia’s entry about the volcano). In 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted, spewing everything a volcano is known to spew. Sometime after the eruption, my grandfather or a great uncle (I am not sure on the exact relation) visited the area and scooped some ash into a mason jar.

Return to Tomorrow: July

I am losing the War Against Busyism ; it is such an unfortunate truth, but that doesn’t mean I was idle while waiting in the trenches. I was able to scribble out a few things for the month of July. A patriotic prelude to my new avatar Pencil drawings are such fun! I have plans to make a digital version of this ink sketch. I’m a Fighter Pilot – The image I created my avatar out of. It’s too wide to post on here, so here’s the link! 7/3 books read. Thank FSM for lunch breaks.

High Castle is Coming to SDCC Again!

News on the High Castle Front!  High Castle is going to be at San Diego Comic Con again! Going off of last year’s SDCC appearance, we can expect some hints about Season 4, a release date, and a trailer! I have no idea what to predict about S4, so I’m going to hold all of my theories and speculations until after the panel. I CAN’T WAIT! Yet, it is also a bittersweet feeling knowing that this is the final season of the show that has been a huge part of my life since 2015. Never before has a TV show captured my imagination like Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle.   Here are the details as posted by the official @HighCastleTV Twitter account: When: Sat, July 20th at 4:15 PM I am assuming this is PST, so it will be 7:15PM for us East Coasters. Where: Room 6A I truly wish I could be there! Costume designer Cate Adair posted some details on Instagram, and I WISH I COULD TELEPORT THERE. Okay. Deep breath 😉 There will be a costume designers guild booth (#734) in the main conv...

A Quick Post

I have some good news! The deadline for the contest has been extended to 25 May! The cover is waiting patiently for 31 May. I am excited about all of this! Part of me is tempted to post the evolution of the cover from the first sketches, to the first design, and finally to the final image. It is crazy to think that the idea I had in 2010 has turned into a full length novel! Well, enough cryptic words about the cover! Here is what I’ve been up to lately in the world of art: If Babylon 5 was an anime…and had a spin off series dedicated to the Psi Corps!  ** NOTE ** I used google translate for the words “Psi” and “Corps,” so the translation might not be 100% accurate.  I periodically run drawings for free commissions on Facbook! This was for the winner of my St. Patrick’s Day drawing.  More Babylon 5 fanart. This is one of the advantages of painting, if you want to decorate your walls with something obscure, you can! Sparkly space hi...
