Roadster

Roadster By MLC A tribute to the Falcon Heavy launch on 6 February, 2018 Cast: Commander Thorne First Officer Webb Science Officer Ivan Ensign Jacobs The Imperial Kingston Starship Powell The Roadster With special guests: Commander Erwin Johnson Cosmonaut Dmitry Yelchin Astronaut Peggy Mills   *All cast members are fictional with the exception of The Roadster *Main image of the Roadster is from Tesla Motors .  Roadster “Commander, I’m detecting an unidentified vessel ahead. Forty-three thousand, two hundred and five Karveks away.” Commander Thorne placed his palms against the flat panel in front of him. The readouts glowing inside of it indicated the IKS Powell’s course.  They were to explore the quiet solar system lurking around Shasta IV, the North Star. “Hail them,” he said, holding his breath. Anticipation burned through his limbs, and his gut churned. The separatists never ventured past the blue moon of Vegra II, and the IKS Powell was fifty billion Karveks aw...

Fifty Years From Now

A grim future awaits us in this flash story of mine. Beware of the $ians, for they may snatch you up! Original photo can be found on wikimedia commons!   2065 Grandpa tells me that I was born ten years too late. I have no memory of what it was like before the world lost its way (though, he says that it had been riding I80 to Stupidville way before 2045). I frown as I gaze at his withered face. It looks serene in the candlelight. I sigh. The power outages have been getting worse. It’s been out for three days straight now. When I see his chest rise and fall, I close my eyes and sit down. Good. I wrestled his mask on just in time. I glance over at the window. He likes to call the deep, dark brown hue “the marriage between a hipster and a trashy sepia filter.” I have no idea what it means, but I always laugh because he likes my reaction. Sand begins to pelt against it. I rise and close the curtains. I’m sick of sand. It wasn’t this bad ten years ago. Resou...

Review - Psi Corps Replica Pin

I am overdue for a review. I got a little Babylon 5 gem in the mail, so here’s the scoop! This is my in-depth look at the Psi Corps replica badge you see floating around places like Ebay and Amazon. You can view Amazon’s listing here:  Babylon 5 PSI CORPS Replica Don’t be fooled by the crappy product photo. At first glance, it looks like a cheap, plastic replica not worth your time. I’m happy to say that I scoured the Internet for reviews to confirm that the badge is metal (not that cheap Halloween-bend it-break it metal either). Imagine the way my heart sank when I pulled this out of the packaging. I was fully prepared for a broken badge. Phew! A perfect badge. My thoughts: 1. As I said before, it’s made of a decent metal and has a good weight to it which makes it feel like a proper badge. Sign me up for the Psi Corps right now! 2. The clasps in the back are just as the descriptions say: military style. 3. The size is perfect. It appears to be as larg...

Goodbye, Hashtag Glitter Nation

The Command Deck has another special guest today! Missed the last “guest?” You can catch her post here: Careful With That Selfie! Aaron Winters from my upcoming story, Stars or Stripes, has something to say about hipsters and memes. He goes by another name, but only close friends are allowed to know it. Boo. I want to know it now! This pic went viral on the Empire Web underground.  What does Aaron have to say about it? A hipster!? Is that what people are calling me these days? I regret hacking one of my chit cards and regret ever creating that underground network in the darkest and most forgotten corner of the Empire Web. The exciting location of my hidden corner is  Zoning Regulations: Manufacturing: Textiles: Code by Fabric Type , then find the “ Cottons* ” folder. I wanted a place where we could openly discuss things without fear of reprisal by empire authorities…but all people are posting is a bunch of hashtag one liners and cat pictures. Wit...

Careful With That Selfie!

The Command Deck has a special guest today! Agent Jadelynn Jackson from the RIA (who is also the star of my upcoming story, Stars or Stripes ) has a special message for you all. Dear Self, I must not take selfies with my empire-issue chit card. I must not take selfies with my empire-issue chit card….and et cetera. In my defense, it’s not everyday you get to go into a classified area with relics from the past. By past, I don’t mean ten years ago. Nope. This was some Grade A, pre-Great War stuff. I mean who could blame me? You have to have a Level 5 clearance just to get near the thing! The selfie would have been just an innocent file named something boring stored in my chit for a few hours until I got home to transfer it. But nope. I had to mess up big time. My boss laughed the entire time he was reprimanding me. *sigh* So how did an innocent selfie blow up in  my face? It’s easy. An agent sent out a mass message, warning everyone about a potential twelp situ...

The Year is Now - Read the First Chapter!

Greetings, everyone! It’s been a busy week on my end, but you don’t want to read about working and…working; you know, the mundane in and outs of life. Enough of that! I am happy to announce that The Year is Now is available on Amazon!  That time I read an excerpt…And since I recorded this before making this post, I’ll put an Amazon link below it too (as stated in the video):   Amazon link! I’ve been on an anime kick lately, so I took a shot at drawing the two leads from my book. I am thrilled with the results.  Elly is on the left, and Major Pierson is on the right. Because I’m cool like that, here is a sneak peak at The Year is Now. I’ve uploaded the first chapter! Please note that the excerpt has been formatted for the all awesome and knowing Internetz. 😉 into chaos   Copyright © 2014 by M.L Crabb All rights reserved. Stories in 6 Words

Write a story in six words–the ultimate way to put your brain to the test! I got this idea after browsing around the web one mindless evening. It’s like @VeryShortStory on Twitter, only shorter! However, the idea of writing a tiny splash of fiction is much older than the Internet. Earnest Hemingway won a bet over it. You can read the Wikipedia article if you’re curious. I took some pictures and used them as prompts. I’m no Hemingway, but I had fun!   “One to beam-” cried the redshirt.  Took a selfie…lost my phone.  Too stubborn for change, late notice. Last seen at the lunch counter. Wanted: a fitting meme and catnip! **** Take a shot at your own!  [ Your six word story is waiting. ]
