In Memory

My Uncle Joey passed away suddenly, and I am devastated. He was, without a doubt, the kindest person on Earth. He was always happy, and when he saw us kids, he made us feel as though we were the most important people in the universe. I would get so excited at the prospect of visiting him and run around exclaiming, “Uncle Joey! Uncle Joey!”

The ring now hangs on my favorite necklace

I’ll never forget the road-trip my mother, step-dad, and I took before I was about to leave home forever to embark on the great adulthood adventure.

He lived in a sea-side village in Oregon at the time. He had these “totally awesome” copper rings. When he saw how much I liked them, he gave me one. I always think of him when I open my jewelry box to rummage through the day’s assortment of earrings, rings, and bracelets, and spot it. I have always smiled at it.

It is not always easy living so far away from my relatives, so I try to fly out West when I can. I am so utterly thankful that I flew out there in August and got to see him. He greeted me with open arms as though he saw me yesterday. He told me all about his cats, and I’ll never forget the loving way he said their names.

I have a work trip on that side of the country in April, and I was still just as excited as I was when I was a kid that I’d get to see him afterwards. My mother kept telling me that he’d always ask her when I was coming out again. Words cannot express the sadness I feel now.

Treasure those you love because they will not be on this planet forever.

I miss you, Uncle Joey

Return to Tomorrow: July

I am losing the War Against Busyism ; it is such an unfortunate truth, but that doesn’t mean I was idle while waiting in the trenches. I was able to scribble out a few things for the month of July. A patriotic prelude to my new avatar Pencil drawings are such fun! I have plans to make a digital version of this ink sketch. I’m a Fighter Pilot – The image I created my avatar out of. It’s too wide to post on here, so here’s the link! 7/3 books read. Thank FSM for lunch breaks.

High Castle is Coming to SDCC Again!

News on the High Castle Front!  High Castle is going to be at San Diego Comic Con again! Going off of last year’s SDCC appearance, we can expect some hints about Season 4, a release date, and a trailer! I have no idea what to predict about S4, so I’m going to hold all of my theories and speculations until after the panel. I CAN’T WAIT! Yet, it is also a bittersweet feeling knowing that this is the final season of the show that has been a huge part of my life since 2015. Never before has a TV show captured my imagination like Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle.   Here are the details as posted by the official @HighCastleTV Twitter account: When: Sat, July 20th at 4:15 PM I am assuming this is PST, so it will be 7:15PM for us East Coasters. Where: Room 6A I truly wish I could be there! Costume designer Cate Adair posted some details on Instagram, and I WISH I COULD TELEPORT THERE. Okay. Deep breath 😉 There will be a costume designers guild booth (#734) in the main conv...

A Quick Post

I have some good news! The deadline for the contest has been extended to 25 May! The cover is waiting patiently for 31 May. I am excited about all of this! Part of me is tempted to post the evolution of the cover from the first sketches, to the first design, and finally to the final image. It is crazy to think that the idea I had in 2010 has turned into a full length novel! Well, enough cryptic words about the cover! Here is what I’ve been up to lately in the world of art: If Babylon 5 was an anime…and had a spin off series dedicated to the Psi Corps!  ** NOTE ** I used google translate for the words “Psi” and “Corps,” so the translation might not be 100% accurate.  I periodically run drawings for free commissions on Facbook! This was for the winner of my St. Patrick’s Day drawing.  More Babylon 5 fanart. This is one of the advantages of painting, if you want to decorate your walls with something obscure, you can! Sparkly space hi...
