Vampires, Ballet Dancers, and a Caption

I have some exciting news to share! I put my illustrations on hold two weeks ago for a super secret mission…Cue some sort of suspenseful tune with a catchy beat!  Now, then, what did I do with my time?

I entered a drawing into a contest that was hosted by the talented Walter Koenig (Star Trek’s Chekov, Babylon 5’s Alfred Bester, and the author of Buck Alice and the Actor Robot).  He posted a caption on Twitter, and contestants were to draw a picture to go along with it.

Imagine my delight when I logged into Twitter on Sunday and saw this

I am thrilled, and I’m still kind of speechless!

As you can see from the screenshot, the winners get an autographed copy of the first issue of his latest comic, Things to Come. The second half of the prize is a copy of Things to Come in graphic novel format.  The graphic novel is available for pre-order on Amazon.com.

I’ve read one of his other original works, Buck Alice and the Actor Robot. It was an enjoyable mixture of wit and humanity at its core. His characters were quirky, flawed, and flat out entertaining.  The novel is a keeper!

Oh—before I forget! Here is the picture I had sent in!

I will flood this blog with pictures when the autograph comes in! I am still in shock (the good kind of shock) over all of this!

Saving the world with High Castle and Field Team 6

Tuesday I had the awesome pleasure of joining the Axis of Good (Joel de la Fuente, Rufus Sewell, Chelah Horsdal, Stephen Root, Jason O’Mara, Frances Turner, Michael Gaston, Sebastian Roché, and Isa Hacket) with Field Team 6 for an evening of textbanking.  Let me tell you about the absolute blast I had! I didn’t know what to expect–was I nervous going in? You bet I was! I am probably the shyest person you’ll ever meet…until you get to know me, that is!  The week started off with absolute chaos, as 2020 weeks often do. I spent that day doing a bunch of house projects which involved a lot of nit and grit. I scrambled to get my laptop ready in time without bothering to fix my hair and without any attempt at looking presentable. Normally fans are muted and shuffled to the back of these things. Well….I clicked the link and HELLO WORLD! Hello Joel in particular because I know you saw me fumbling around and flustered! 😉  After a minute or so, I managed to turn my...

SGS: Creativity!

Looking at Heather’s wonderful prompts, I just realized that April is almost over. Is it really the last Sunday of the month already!? How did that happen? Even with quarantine it feels like it just zipped by!  This week’s Seriously Geeky Sundays theme hits close to home, and I am super excited about it. As you all know, I’m an artist who loves to draw, paint, write, and sew!  26th April – Creativity What does creativity in fandoms/geeky interests mean to you? EVERYTHING. Just look at Club High Castle!  High Castle is the one fandom where I’ve felt like I’ve been allowed to flourish. The countless hours and dedication I’ve put into the things I’ve created has been appreciated by both fans and the cast and crew. I have never experienced anything like it, and it has genuinely made me happy over the years.  I’ve been in other fandoms where art and things just slipped by unnoticed–not that I’m seeking attention, but knowing that there are people out there who enjoy my...

SGS: Animation

It’s time for another Seriously Geeky Sunday brought to you by the creative Heather at geeking-by.net! I’m a tad late for this one, but better late than never! I decided to have some fun with it and use character generators to insert myself into my answers. I included the links (an ad blocker is recommended…Wut? Did I just sneeze? 😉 ). Without further ado, ANIMATION! 9th August – Animation There are so many different types of animation out there now and each of us have our own favourites and memories associated to them. This week we’re picking your brain about the animated world. What is your favourite Disney movie? This takes me back! Wayyyyy back! The Lion King – My best friend and I were obsessed with it! We’d spend hours playing our own version of it in the cul de sac–good times and great memories!  https://www.dolldivine.com/kitten-maker.php What is your favourite non-Disney movie? Anastasia – I loved the songs, especially Once Upon a December. Fu...
