Lucky Seven

I finally got around to updating my countdown graphic. I have finished seven illustrations so far. With working 40 hours a week, plus the art trades I do on the side, I normally get 1 illustration done every two weeks or so. I have next Friday off, so I am going to make good use of that day! It will be a great opportunity to make some headway with this project. All this cryptic talk of these illustrations…I feel it is time to reveal what the project actually is! I’m working on a children’s book that I intend to self-publish. I’ve written it and have already had someone take a look at the story.  They liked it and gave it their thumbs up. My goal is to finish most of the illustrations by the end of this year. Here is a snippet from one of the drawings! In other news… ‘Tis May in the lovely state of Georgia, and here comes the heat, seeping through the walls…I’ve held out as long as I can, but I think I may finally be turning that dolla...

End of Month: April

It’s nearing the close of April. We are almost 5 months into 2012 now, and it is looking to be a good year so far. I’m still trying to find the perfect schedule for my illustrations so that I can complete this project in a timely manner. I’ve finished 7 so far (yes, I know I need to update my little counter!).  I have an extra day off coming in May (in addition to Memorial Day) that I plan to use wisely. The last time I had a scheduled day off, I finished 2 illustrations in one day! I cannot wait until I’m ready to scan and format my project. It will be worth all the hard work to finally hold my own, illustrated children’s book in my hands! Art in April “Ariel’s Whimsical Dream” – watercolor, color pencil, and ink ** Ariel is (c) Studio Drowtales inc 2001-2012 This was done as an entry into an art contest hosted by Drowtales , a web comic I read daily.  I didn’t win, but I felt that the contest had an extremely friend...

End of Month: March!

Well, it’s a bit into April now…I’m late! Oh noes! March began with an art trade. I must say that I am enjoying the art trades! The friend wrote me a fun, short story in return. I completed one illustration…I wish I would have done more, but I think I had burnt myself out in February on them. I need to find a happy medium that won’t burn me out, but still allows me to keep up a decent pace. My goal for April is to complete two illustrations because one per month is just a snail crawl pace that I don’t want to repeat! If I finished only one per month, it would take nearly two years for me to complete the illustrations…No thanks! Rudy – my friend’s character. General Bester – one of my characters in the MMO, Star Trek Online. He is a joined trill who is about to kick some ass. Yes…I sort of modeled him after a certain Alfred Bester from Babylon 5! Books read I caved into the craze and bought The Hunger Games. It was only 6 bucks at Walmart, and my fellow literary snobs said it was a ...

Oh My!

I put all my little peg dolls in a tin so that I could carry them outside for a photoshoot. I found a beautiful spot, set the tin down, opened the lid, and *gasp!* Bester! I swear, I did not put him in there like that! Now that my computer problem is fixed, here are the official graphics for the last two dolls ( I, Me and I, Marcus ) Both of these will be added to Needles and Pins. I, Me I, Marcus Marcus was made as a gift for my wonderful friend, E.R., so he is not in the I, Me photoshoot. Rest assured, he has a great home now!

First Project of 2012

I couldn’t help myself and painted a “me” peg doll since I love the show, Babylon 5 , so much and created a lot of art (not to mention stories) related to it. Here she is! The unpainted doll beside her is going to be Londo. I, Me – Wooden peg doll. It comes to no surprise that she is a Psi Corps telepath…

Return to Tomorrow: November, Part II

~ Part II of November’s post. November was such a creative month for me. I thoroughly enjoyed working on the things I did. I loved experimenting with new loom knitting techniques; here’s to hoping my niece likes her baby doll! Captain, the warp drive is back online. Orders? Engage Photoshop, full speed ahead! Without further adieu, here is Part Two! Bester’s Wife – Colored pencil She is the rarely mentioned wife of Alfred Bester from Babylon 5. His Summons – Colored pencil Based on a Babylon 5 RP I was in several months ago. She was summoned to a certain Psi Cop’s office… Uber Mega Con – Colored pencil This was just a fun sketch I did at the spur of the moment. It’s actually a redo of something I drew back in 2005. I’ll have to dig up and find the older drawing…eventually.

Return to...Bed!

I’ve been sick all weekend, so I will have to postpone Part II of last week’s post. However, I was digging around and noticed that I had neglected to post a drawing in October. I had even posted a preview for it back in September. The preview: The completed drawing: Mirror on the Wall – Sketch to digital. Oh, Photoshop, how I miss thee…. Inspired by Babylon 5!
